About
Highfield Plains Hypnotherapy
and Rebecca Barnes

My Story

Hello and welcome! My name is Rebecca and I am a certified Hypnotherapist and Hypnobirthing Practitioner.

Before establishing Highfield Plains, I spent my career in the corporate world, setting business strategies, designing services, facilitating workshops, delivering training and presenting to senior stakeholders and decision boards.

In these high-energy environments, I experienced first-hand the internal pressure that can accompany modern working life. I felt overwhelmed, constantly on edge, and found it difficult to switch off and fully enjoy life outside of work. Public speaking often brought a level of anxiety that didn't reflect my capability or experience, and although I appeared confident and clear on the outside, inside my tummy would be turning with butterflies in flight! This caused palpitations, led to poor sleep, a racing mind and relentless self-criticism.

This was all before I found hypnotherapy.

I began studying neuroscience and hypnotherapy over a decade ago, with a simple goal: to improve the way I felt. I read extensively, created self-hypnosis recordings and listened to them daily. Gradually, I noticed significant shifts in my thoughts, my emotions and my overall sense of wellbeing. Life felt lighter. I found myself calmer, happier and more present, both at work and at home. I started wondering whether I could share my skills and abilities to support others.

My curiosity quickly became a passion.

I started attending training events with Paul McKenna and continued to do so year after year. During one particular training weekend with Paul McKenna and Dr Richard Bandler, I noticed something remarkable: the people I worked with were experiencing meaningful shifts through my hypnotic language patterns and techniques.

This inspired me to begin working with others. What started with friends soon grew into a network of volunteers and clients. I built my practice through practical experience, ongoing study and a commitment to continually refining my approach.

After years of lived experiences, dedicated study, client sessions and a full certification in Hypnotherapy, I now offer that same support to you, through Highfield Plains.

I believe that meaningful change is possible for far more people than realise it, often through small, consistent shifts that gently reshape the way we think, feel and respond to the world around us.

Training & Certification

I have trained directly with internationally renowned figures in this field; Paul McKenna PhD, Dr Richard Bandler, Ali Campbell and Sophie Fletcher.

My Hypnotherapy certification is accredited by the Complimentary Medical Association (CMA), where I am a Fully Registered Practitioner Member, as well as the prestigious International Association of Counsellors & Therapists (IACT) and International Compliance Assurance for Holistic Practitioners (ICAHP).

In Hypnobirthing, I have completed Sophie Fletcher's Royal College of Midwives accredited and DoulaUK-supported training. I am a certified Mindful Mamma® Hypnobirthing Practitioner.

Beyond Hypnotherapy, I am a fully qualified Service Design Practitioner with 18 years' strategic design, training and facilitation experience.

I am also a certified Mental Health First Aider with Mental Health England.

My Approach

I practice hypnotherapy using the most up-to-date evidence-informed techniques and approaches developed through extensive training, practical experience and ongoing professional development. Having trained directly with internationally recognised practitioners in the field, I am committed to continually refining my knowledge and skills as our understanding of the mind, behaviour and neuroscience continues to evolve.

I do not use pre-written hypnosis scripts. Instead, I take time to get to know each client as an individual. Through informal conversation and careful observation, I build an understanding of your goals, experiences and natural patterns of thinking and responding. This enables me to design sessions that are tailored specifically to you.

Over time, I have developed a way of working that feels natural and is highly effective, combining focused attention, sensory experience and nervous system regulation.

This evolved into my signature approach, Lived Repatterning™.

Lived Repatterning™ is a structured, meditative form of hypnotherapy that uses guided experience to help retrain the way the mind responds, particularly in areas such as fear, anxiety and self-doubt. Rather than simply talking about change, this creates the conditions for you to experience it, calmly, safely and at your own pace.

At its heart, my approach is built on a simple belief: lasting change happens when the mind feels safe enough to let go of old patterns and open to new possibilities. My role is not to "fix" you, but to guide and support you in creating the conditions for meaningful, sustainable change.

Every session is calm, collaborative and tailored to you, helping you achieve your goals in a way that feels natural and authentic.

This is what makes Highfield Plains different.
